Jared Leto’s Joker – Suicide Squad

I am so excited for this movie! Every trailer has been perfect in the sense that they have shown us lots of content but not a lot of the actual story, leaving it up to us as the viewers to speculate (yay!). The casting has also got me excited, from Will Smith as ‘Deadshot’ & Margo Robbie as ‘Harley Quinn’, but what has me really excited is Jared Leto as ‘The Joker’. Joker’s casting has been controversial in the past, especially when Heath Ledger was cast and many hated the decision but after his performance many perceived him as ‘thee’ Joker and only being bested by the voice acting of Mark Hamill. I personally believe that Jared Leto will do a phenomenal job as The Joker, but how does he fit into this movie? Lets find out.

How can Joker fit into Suicide Squad? Where there is fire there is smoke, where there is Joker there is Batman. We have seen in the latest trailer (Trailer #3) that there is a lot of Batman, but why? I think there will be a flashback to a widely known story arc in this movie involving The Joker & Batman…

A Death in the Family

A Death in the Family. Would they do it? I believe so. In A Death in the Family it tells the tragic tale about how the second Robin, Jason Todd, dies at the hands of The Joker. The Joker brutally beats Jason to near death with a metal crowbar and then leaves him to die with a Time Bomb. We are already aware that in the DCEU The Joker kills one of the Robins as pictured below;

‘HAHAHA Joke’s on you BATMAN’ clearly the work of The Joker

I strongly believe that this is the costume which Jason Todd wore when the Joker killed him, also in this new comic book movie world everyone wants their heroes to look ‘realistic’, well this armoured suit looks like it could hold its own against an explosive. Now, I mentioned that they might use this story as a flashback in Suicide Squad, my evidence? A zoomed scene out of the Comic-Con First Look Trailer (1:34 into the trailer) looks to be Joker beating somebody with a crowbar, could this be the scene in which Joker kills Jason Todd? Have a look;

hmmmm see it? – Suicide Squad

Having the Joker kill Batman’s sidekick could cause the Dark Knight to go berserk, chase down the Joker and beat him until he breaks all of his teeth out causing the Joker to replace them with the controversial ‘Metal Teeth’.

Could that be the reason for those metal teeth?

But what could this mean for future DC movies? Doing the Death in the Family story means they could further elaborate on that and do the Red Hood story in which Jason Todd comes back from the dead for revenge against the Joker for what he had done.

Yes please!

Overall I am very excited for this movie and really want to know if they do indeed use the Death in the Family story. It’s also good to see that they aren’t showing too much Joker footage as it saves the majority of his scenes for the movie itself. Moreover, it gives the other cast members a chance to be hyped to the same level as The Joker, as they seem to have been overshadowed by The Joker character. August please hurry up.
